Halo 'Reclaimer' story now expands beyond a trilogy
The previously-dubbed Halo "Reclaimer Trilogy" isn't necessarily a trilogy anymore, as Microsoft says it has "expanded to more of a saga."
Microsoft ended its E3 2013 press conference with a show-stopper, a teaser trailer for the next Halo game. This is by all accounts Halo 5, but Microsoft has pointed out that the so-called "Reclaimer" story won't necessarily fit into a trilogy, as previously announced.
Microsoft had previously called Halo 4 the start of the Reclaimer Trilogy, which was set to span Halo 4, 5, and 6. But a Microsoft representative told GameSpot that new Halo games won't necessarily be constrained in that way. "While we originally said trilogy, we've actually expanded this to more of a saga, so we don't want to limit the Reclaimer story within a trilogy," the rep said.
Whatever the case, though, the teaser was a look at what the future holds for the series. Microsoft's Don Mattrick referred to the new game as Halo 5, and Phil Spencer told GameSpot that the teaser is the next Halo game in production. "We will talk more about actually the story arc in the game and how it plays out; we've got more time to talk about that," he said.

I don't presume anything.
In my opinion Halo's been DOA after part 2. The only ones that cared where console lovers that couldn't get a decent PC.
I've been playing FPS since the days of Wolfenstein and Halo never spoke to me. (Nor any FPS for that matter), It was the thing to play cause everything else was luke warm. Halo was the COD of its day.
Yeah I was present during those ridiculous Halo parties, everyone lugging there TV's and Xbox's, all I could do was laugh. Meantime I'm playing Desert Siege with my buddies online.
Halo never did anything spectacular. It was know for being the first FPS to make the transition from what was dominated by the PC to a console. Followed by the MP. It was heaven sent for many people.
But it over. Like COD is over. Gamers want new experiences and Halo is a carry over from 2 gens ago.
Its like an old joke.
I know how I feel. I'm entitled to voice my opinion, and Halo should be prescribed as a cure for insomia.-
I love your style "How does Shacknews dare to report on one if the biggest series in gaming that millions of ppl enjoy- don't they know that rtricoche has decreed that no one likes it?". With a tasteful splash of PC Master race elitism, because anyone who doesn't taste your share is clearly just too poor to buy a PC, amirite?

When you laughed at the Halo parties, did you do it heartily and with a monocle on? Sounds like you just hate fun.
I love PC games as much as the next guy, but there is something completely different about getting 16+ people together in one house and stringing cat5 between 4 different rooms than playing "together" online. It's the same reason people love LAN parties and the Wii was so successful. -
COD is over? Didn't it sell about 20 million last year? Just like it always does?
Didn't Halo sell over 5 million copies?
Yes, you are entitled to your opinion, but your opinion is wrong. When these two franchises stop being some of the biggest franchises ever, THEN they are over. Right now they're both strong and ongoing. -

Naw, they've been doing a good job of keeping the core the same while adding nice little treats along the way (like the space dogfighting for example). I've enjoyed every campaign so far, and couldn't care less about the multiplayer, so in my eyes they're doing a good job. Can't wait to see where they take things next.

This, along with the twin-virtual-stick shooter Spartan Assault ( http://www.shacknews.com/article/79474/halo-spartan-assault-coming-to-pc-and-mobile-as-windows ) solidify the bottom frame of http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2006/05/01 (and Bungie's really happy that they're free, even if Destiny is just a "reset to step 1" for the same cycle).
