Sledgehammer not working on Call of Duty: Ghosts
Sledgehammer Games, which lent a hand in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, is not working on Ghosts.
Infinity Ward helms development of the newly announced Call of Duty: Ghosts. However, Modern Warfare 3 co-developer Sledgehammer Games is sitting this one out, left to work on their own original project instead.
"Our team is heads down on our next project, but best wishes to the hardworking team at IW!" the studio tweeted (via Polygon). Sledgehammer is reportedly working on a Call of Duty project, but the tweet implies it's an entirely separate one.
After Jason West and Vince Zampella's very public falling out with Activision, several Infinity Ward staff members left as well. This left the studio in the lurch, so Sledgehammer was pulled from its current project to lend a hand. Rumors at the time claimed that the former Dead Space developers were working on a third-person Call of Duty game, but only made it to the prototype stage. Now that Sledgehammer is working on its own project, and said to be a Call of Duty one at that, the third-person COD may be back in development. Plus, Infinity Ward might have been built back up to fighting strength to handle development of Ghosts on its own.
