Earthbound coming to Wii U Virtual Console this year
Earthbound is coming to Virtual Console this year, Nintendo has announced.
The cult-favorite RPG Earthbound is coming to the Wii U Virtual Console by the end of this year, Nintendo announced at its Nintendo Direct presentation today. President Satoru Iwata said the company decided to bring the game to the shop after hearing from vocal fans.
Oddly enough, Earthbound was rated by the ESRB for Virtual Console way back in 2008. But as they say, better (very, very) late than never.

They might as well. The translation for 3 is already done, they just gotta pay somebody. The fan translation was fucking fantastic.

Yeah, makes you wonder if someone else fronted the cash/resources to get all the legal red tape dealt with.

Agreed, but at least now there is a direct way for fans to tell Nintendo we want something in bulk, and due to their personnel devoted to Miiverse censorship employees literally have to see it.

One of my favorite games of all time, I wonder how different the impact will be so many years later.

It's still awesome, it really hasn't lost any luster at all over the years.

I replay it pretty often (just finished it on my phone again last year actually) I meant going through it for the first time now as opposed to then. It wasn't the prettiest thing available when it launched so I'm not worried about visuals but the possibility that the music will be changed scares me.

No, just the cart. I got it off eBay a couple years ago for about $100. I was surprised to see the price had doubled in only 3 or 4 years.
