Tales of Xillia coming to PS3 on August 6
Tales of Xillia is coming to North America on August 6, but series producer Hideo Baba confirmed that the Vita remakes aren't planned for our territory because of the system's poor sales.
Tales of Xillia has been given a release date of August 6 for North America. This comes alongside news that the series' two Vita games are not planned for western release, making the decidedly old-school PlayStation 3 title the only pending option for Tales fans.
Gematsu (via IGN) caught the release date at a Namco press event. Meanwhile, Kotaku reports that Tales of Heart R and Tales of Innocence R, the Vita remakes of the Nintendo DS Tales games, are a victim of Vita's poor domestic sales.
"Unfortunately, at this present time we don't have any plans to release any of the Vita titles [in the west]," said producer Hideo Baba. "One of the main reasons is, unfortunately the PlayStation Vita is doing relatively poorly in North America, so it's one of those things that if the numbers increased considerably, then it's something we could consider."
The Tales games are often cited as examples of classic Japanese RPG mechanics, and Baba has previously remarked that the Tales franchise in particular has resisted the temptation to "westernize."

At least they are being honest, but they might want to take a harder look at the market data.
There seems to be a heavy concentration of JRPG fans that own the Vita and everything in the genre released for the system in the US seems to do very well. The current system seller is Persona 4 Golden and to further re-enforce this, Atelier Totori Plus a niche nearly straight port of a PS3 game that had no advertisement and sold for $40 was the number one downloaded Vita game on PSN last month:

I've heard it's not as good as Graces but I'm still picking this up on day 1.
Glad they're still porting Tales games over, I just hope this one sells well enough to get the sequel ported over as well.
No big loss on the Vita version, as the Tales games are best played with couch coop anyway and that's really unlikely on a portable even if it technically supports it.
