More information about Ubisoft's technically-unannounced Assassin's Creed 4 continues to leak today. Marketing materials revealed the pirate-themed "Black Flag," set to arrive some time before April 2014. A map from the game has been leaked by the same source to Kotaku, and it reveals some critical details about Ubisoft's next open-world game.

According to the map, the game will take place in 1715 across the Caribbean islands, a time that is referred to as the "Golden Age of Piracy." Although players did sail to the Caribbean in Assassin's Creed 3, those adventures didn't happen until the 1770s. The ship you commandeer in AC3--the Aquila--wasn't even built until 1749, meaning the upcoming AC4 predates Connor's journey by a number of decades.

A major raid on the Spanish by English pirates in 1715 could be one of the game's earlier moments, as it sets the stage for the events to follow. We wouldn't be surprised if Black Flag featured some of history's most famous pirates, namely Edward Teach--better known as Blackbeard.

I want any pirate game someone is willing to make. There aren't nearly enough open-world pirate games to get picky! Also AssCreed3 did the naval missions really well. I want that stuff expanded!

This doesn't pique my interest, at all. I really liked the ship missions in AC3, but they were better served as being side-missions, and not the main attraction. I'd rather see something in the 19th century, maybe in England or France.

After I was so disappointed in 3 I don't know if I will play any more AC games. I just do not care for the story anymore. The ending didn't make any sense, and the last character was boring.

Maybe if it gets some crazy good reviews I will pick it up. I'm not going to hold my breath though.

Missed out on French Revolution. Which would have been a natural follow-on (in a Brotherhood way) to the American Revolution. Some character overlap etc

So... much... AC. I'm not complaining, I don't have to play them, but for me they're the kind of games I boot up every few months, play for a few hours on a night or two, and then forget about them for a while again. I'm now maybe 1/3rd done with Brotherhood, after which I'll get revelations cheap, and so forth. They'll probably have AC5 out by the time I buy AC3.
