Word on The Last Guardian has been awfully quiet lately, as the latest we've heard has been about technical difficulties way back in June. We may be close to more information, though, as the game's creative director has told eager fans to "keep an eye out" for official release details.

In a note on his website (via Polygon) creative director Fumito Ueda stressed that the decision of when and how to share more info isn't his to make.

"While it's been a long time coming, The Last Guardian remains under my creative supervision and is still in development by an incredibly talented team," he said. "I should also mention that details regarding The Last Guardian's release is [sic] solely decided by Sony Computer Entertainment, not myself. Please keep an eye out for their official announcement."

That's far from a promise, but it implies that Sony has some sort of announcement plan. One possible venue for an announcement is next week's PlayStation Future event, where the company is expected to debut its next console. If not there, we may be waiting until E3 to see the long-awaited game get its due.

You think they'll launch on PS4?

PS4 launch title. Too convenient with the press conf. being only a week away and all of a sudden, this.

I suppose but that seems like a lot of money lost because ps4's install base will be really small. Unless this game is still years away

It's not like it's a Madden or CoD system seller in a large way though, you know?

What they lose in game sales, they'll make up through expanding the PS4 install base. The Last Guardian is one of the few games that will entice people to buy next-gen hardware.

It was never going to be a huge sales driver, it was always a vanity project for sony that exhibited what they're designers were capable of.

May as well push that to the PS4 where its useful.

IIRC, the same thing happened with ICO. It was a PSX game at one point and then got moved to the PS2.

ICO and SotC are iconic, legendary games. Ueda's next gen effort is absolutely going to drive some sales.

Uh... I bought a PS3 largely because it was the end of the PS2 and because I still wanted to play Ico and SotC. This is in fact one of the few games which makes me even consider a PS4.

(I know Ico and SotC were PS2 games, but I wasn't going to buy a PS2 with the PS3 already out).

How do you know you won't want a PS4 when it hasn't even been revealed yet? Seems a bit early to be deciding about the next gen.

All we have right now is some leaked specs and FWIW, those favor the PS4.

Because I'm a PC gamer exclusively and I never use my PS3. I bought it for a blu-ray player. Now that I have it, I'll buy a game for it if it's interesting to me (Demon's Souls), but I won't buy a new console for a game.

Their whole reason for the major delay was technical issues wasn't it? It went into ghost mode right when PS4 dev kits were being rumored to have been sent to first party Sony studios.

It was a mixture things, but technical issues had to be a play. The creative director wanted leave the project at one point but I think sony persuaded him to stay on board. Maybe persuaded him with some nice ps4 dev kits.

Haha, or it will be like SotC. Release it and it barely runs on the current hardware.

This is probably the real reason development was so delayed. They were probably going for PS3 and Sony probably shoved PS4 dev kits in their hands and had them make it better. They went almost radio silent on this a while ago, and then this pops up a week before Sony's major announcement.

I think the Feb. 20 event isn't about the PS4, it's about this game finally releasing. Wasn't it announced around the same time the *PS3* was announced?

F them in the A, seriously. TLG is one of the main reason I bought a PS3. :( (that and BluRay)
