Aliens: Colonial Marines PC getting season pass for four DLC packs
Aliens: Colonial Marines is getting a downloadable content season pass, at least on PC, according to a retail listing. Its season will consist of four packs that add campaign and multiplayer content.
Aliens: Colonial Marines is being done up like a big-budget game with all the trimmings -- including a Collector's Edition, pre-order bonuses, and apparently, a season pass. A retail site mentioned the pass for PC, which includes four packs in all.
A GameStop listing (via Polygon) shows the pass for a MSRP of $29.99. It boasts this price is a 33% discount from buying the four packs individually, as they come between March and summer. The DLC for the game will include "campaign content, additional multiplayer maps, new modes, character customization and more."
This listing is only for the PC version, but season passes tend to come to all platforms, so we wouldn't be surprised to see it on other platforms as well.

Leary about DLC packs with new multiplayer maps since the last AvP game. Virtually none of the atill-active servers run these map packs, effectively making them a total waste of money. Those that do effectively segregate the players and you end up watching half the players in a session drop off because they don't own the content.

I'll reserve judgment until I see how the game fares with the gamer base. Sega's support for the last AvP game was shit and the DLC packs were ultimately a waste of money, particularly once the server populations died out (although there's still a small number of very active servers running). At this stage, I'm not going to plunk down money on DLC for a game that isn't even released yet. Plus there'll always be the inevitable Steam sales down the line, so I see no hurry to buy DLC packs in advance right now.
