Nintendo teases new Zelda, Wind Waker remake for Wii U
Nintendo teased two upcoming Zelda projects during its Nintendo Direct today: the new Wii U Zelda in development, and an HD Wind Waker remake.
It should come as no surprise that Nintendo is working on a new Zelda title for Wii U, but since it may be a long way off the company is producing a remake of one of its most beloved series titles as well. Nintendo teased some tidbits about its next new game, along with a Wind Waker rerelease, during today's Nintendo Direct.
The Wind Waker remake is coming sometime this fall, and will feature updated graphics, and a "tune up" to the experience. It will also be playable on the GamePad alone, and Miiverse-enabled. Series director Eiji Aonuma shared some screens of the title, prettied up for the HD console.
He also shared some extremely vague details about the new Zelda title in development, which intends to "rethink the conventions of Zelda." Specifically, he said the team is reconsidering elements like completing dungeons in a set order, or playing the game alone. It sounds like the next Zelda title will have multiplayer elements and be a bit less linear, but we'll have to wait a while to hear much more about the game.
