Assassin's Creed 3 sells 3.5 million, Ubisoft estimates
Ubisoft estimates that 3.5 million units of Assassin's Creed 3 have been sold through to consumers, double the number of Assassin's Creed Revelations sales from the same period last year.
If you're honest enough with yourself, all those hours you spent listening in American History class would have been made more interesting if they were peppered with an righteous Mohawk native embedding a hatchet into various body parts. Ubisoft tapped that part of the American psyche for Assassin's Creed 3, and their reward is a boat-load of money.
Internal estimates at Ubisoft have concluded that the game sold more than 3.5 million units to consumers (not retailers) in its first week. "First-week sell-through sales for Assassin's Creed 3 are estimated at over 3.5 million units, representing a year-on-year increase of more than 100%," the company said in its latest financial report. That matches the same trend established by the game's pre-orders.
The company has high hopes for the rest of the year. Not only does it have Just Dance 4, but the impending launch of Wii U, which the company has 7 games available for at launch, will certainly help boost the company's bottom line.
