Resident Evil 6 bug affects downloaded PS3 copies of the game

A bug caused by a conflict with a day one patch was impacting the PSN Store digital version of Resident Evil 6, but Sony claims the patch has been fixed and recommends users re-download the file.

If you downloaded Resident Evil 6 off the PlayStation Store during its Day 1 Digital promotion, you may need to start all over again. For some, an error code (80029513) launched upon start-up, rendering the game unplayable. Others reported issues playing with disc owners and accessing RE.net.

The bug was first raised on the PlayStation Europe forums (via IGN). According to Capcom-Unity, the game has now been fixed--but you must redownload the 10GB file from the PlayStation Store yet again.

Considering this is but the start of Sony's Day 1 Digital efforts, this probably wasn't how the company wanted to kick off the proceedings.

meh, bugs happen, but with some providers placing bandwidth limits, sony better limit this.

Sony just wanted to protect people by denying access to this game...

GII reported that RE6 shipped 4.5 million units. Such a lofty reward for such horribly-reviewed mediocrity, unless this is like a 2600 E.T. scenario.

        Shipped don't mean sold, honey.

Still, I expect it to still sell pretty high since the franchise is well-known and the last one did well. It sucks that people are willing to buy something just because it has a huge marketing campaign and a sequel number attached to it and will probably move more units in it's first week than Dishonoured and X-Com will combined in their lifetime, but c'est la vie.
