BioWare working on next 'full game' in Mass Effect series, brand new IP
BioWare is already working on the next "full game" in the Mass Effect franchise.
BioWare has been upfront that Mass Effect 3 would not be the last game in their successful space RPG series. And apparently, they are already working on the next "full game" in the Mass Effect franchise. But first, BioWare will release more multiplayer content and more single-player stories "throughout the next six months."
"'Where to go next?' with such a project has been a question a lot of us have been asking, and we'd all love to hear your ideas," BioWare asked on its blog. Wherever BioWare decides to take the franchise, remember to keep your save files from Mass Effect 3.
In addition to a new Mass Effect game, BioWare GM Aaryn Flynn notes that Casey Hudson, producer of the Mass Effect franchise, is also working on an "all new game set in a fictional universe, built from the bottom-up with all new gaming technology." That sounds vaguely like something that could be introduced in the next-generation of consoles, doesn't it?

Unless it's a downloadable game or a dlc mission, you'll never see a non-human main character in the series. EA would come back with "our marketing data/ focus group testing tells us that most consumers in our target demo want to play as a human therefore wasting resources on making a Mass Effect Origins is out of the question".
A smaller dlc mission or download only game would allow them to justify that choice because it's a smaller budget and made specifically for the super fans of the series.
As a matter of fact, I'd love to see a "Tales from the Mass Effect universe" concept pushed as the next thing since that universe is so rich but it's nothing more than a pipe dream with the shake ups that are happening.
