Capcom is bring its lovable bumbling lawyer back to iDevices with Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney HD Trilogy. As you might have guessed from the name, the upcoming release includes the original, Justice for All, and Trials and Tribulations, all remastered for the Retina display and outfitted with touch and swipe controls. You can also bother your friends by sending them Phoenix screaming "Objection!" at them through e-mail and Twitter.

Like the iOS release of Ghost Trick, the base app will be a free download containing the first two episodes of the first game. After that, you can buy additional episodes themselves or all three games as a bundle. Pricing hasn't been announced, but Ghost Trick charged $9.99 for the whole game. The original non-HD iOS version of the first game is still available on the App Store for $4.99.

I was hoping the existing iOS version would update so you'd get the HD version if you already paid for it. That doesn't sound like it's the case.

Is there a date set? What's the source for this story?

It's worse when you realize they'll remove the original and force you to rebuy or back it up.

since iTunes in the Cloud kicked in, old apps that have been "removed" by the developer are still available for download in most cases if you've already purchased them.
