Rumor: Assassin's Creed 3 getting dedicated DLC team
Assassin's Creed 3 is rumored to get a special development team devoted to post-launch DLC, and a Season Pass to let fans buy in advance.
As Ubisoft's biggest release planned for this fall, it only stands to reason that Assassin's Creed 3 will sport plenty of downloadable content. An unconfirmed retailer note takes that one step further, claiming the company is actually creating a dedicated team to make new DLC for the game.
A rumored memo (via Kotaku) claims to be from the Assassin's Creed team to GameStop, thanking the chain for the pre-order goals and discussing future plans. "We are currently in the process of creating a complementary development team that will begin working on post-launch episodic content," the note reads. "With a dedicated team specifically to this content we plan to set the bar for quality DLC in our industry."
It goes on to claim that AC3 will use a Season Pass model for its DLC, and says that pre-orders for the game with the Season Pass can begin soon. Past Assassin's Creed games have had plenty of DLC, mostly in the form of free map packs, but these plans sound more ambitious.
Shacknews has contacted Ubisoft regarding the rumored memo, and will update as more information becomes available.
