Like most MMOs, The Elder Scrolls Online is targeting a strict PC release. ZeniMax Online Studios head Matt Firor says the studio is open to the possibility that the next generation of consoles could support the game, but doesn't want to speculate based on unknown specs just yet.

"The worst thing you can do is worry about new platforms while in development," Firor said. "We want to do what we're doing right now and then look around for further opportunities."

"There are a lot of rumors swirling around the next-gen coming back together with PCs," Firor told Game Informer. "I haven't seen any of that, but I read all the rumor sites just like everyone else. It seems like things are going back to a more standard platform. That being said, we haven't thought about it heavily right now."

As for whether a hypothetical console version would be played on the same servers as the PC version, Firor says it's a "technology question" and relies on the consoles. "We would have no idea," he said, "we'd have to look at the technology." At the same time, he says that console MMOs have faltered because they're built around mouse and keyboard controls, and that the interface problem hasn't really been solved yet.

Same song and dance from every developer. They rarely say "we won't do it" because they don't want to close any doors.

MMO's wont take off on any gen console as long as they have the patching verification processes or in Xbox's (could be PS too, never looked into it much) case update fees.
