Grand Theft Auto 5 'big enough' to have planes and jets
Rockstar Games reveals that player-controllable planes were intentionally removed from GTA 4 because the world of Liberty City was simply "not big enough for planes to work properly." But GTA 5 will bring them back.

LOL :) I believe. Well actually RDR2 has a real good chance if not 1, recently its been sort of leaked as to the squeal is going to happen. --> "Stay tuned for further announcements about the future of the Red Dead series." I am sure they would make a PC version now since PC sales on software really are smokin for a while now.

I wonder if "biggest" = densest. I can't imagine the consoles can handle all three territories + the wilderness from SA. But then again...Skyrim is huge(but its mostly trees and static mountains).
I just hope the PC release comes sooner rather than later, these consoles are lookin' long in the tooth.-

He wonders if consoles are powerful enough to handle a world that's bigger than San Andreas but with the fidelity of GTAIV. He notes that Skyrim pulled it off, but that the world of Syrim didn't have to render a large, desnse cityscape.
Finally, he hopes that the PC version will come soon, because PCs are much more powerful than the current-gen consoles.

On the console maybe. If the trailer and the new screens are anything to go by, the vanilla version of the game will look pretty damn good on the PC. The mod scene will inevitably move on to this game and I'm sure it's going to look amazing.
I got sucked back into GTA IV last week when I got my new SSD and have been having fun modding it with icenhancer and various other mods. Here are some screens I took recently. They are mostly car shots, but whatever.

It's been a bit of a struggle getting daytime to look right. There are a myriad of settings to go through within icenhancer and it sucks to edit them and start the game over and over, but I'm still having fun tweaking them regardless. If anyone has a good looking iceconfig.ini file, hook me up.

Also, here's a shot with an earlier version of the mod. It used to look completely washed out during the day.

There are some hoops you have to jump through with GTA IV. All mods work better with the earlier versions of the game and since steam always downloads the latest version, you need to downgrade.
Basically boils down the following:
-Disable automatic updates in steam
-Install or manually add the old 1.0.4.0 files
-Get the old rock star social club files in
Follow the instructions listed here. http://www.gtagaming.com/forums/showthread.php?t=128300/
It doesn't take long at all and the game runs very stable (not a single crash yet) with a good framerate even with mods in.
For modding, you want to use xliveless and scripthook or the game will crash on startup since the game has protection against modified files. These two tools unpack into the GTA IV folder. There are a few decent mod sites out there, but this is the one I use the most. http://www.gta4-mods.com/ Gtaforums and gtagarage are also good sites. The three big mods I use are icenhancer 2.0n, Better City Textures (big download), and Simple Native Trainer.
One warning about modding cars in though. The game likes to put a cap on the memory allocated to car models. If you start loading in high poly models into the game, you will reach that cap quickly and the game will only spawn cops and taxis. It's pretty funny at first, but gets to be completely aggravating. There are tools to fix this, but I haven't had much luck getting them to work quite yet. -

Ugh, I couldn't stand the size of SA it was too big. Grant it they now have mission check points, etc but still it was just way too large with not much to do outside of the major cities. With the larger size I wonder why extra missions, mini games, etc will be brought back from previous GTA's. GTAIV had little to do outside of the story missions. I felt GTAIV was pretty lifeless this could be even worse but I'll hope for the best.
