Witcher series sells 4 million
The Witcher franchise has sold 4 million copies between its first and second game, across a variety of platforms.
The Witcher series has sold more than 4 million copies across its two main series titles, according to CD Projekt RED. The combined sales of The Witcher and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings have hit the healthy number across the PC, Mac, and Xbox 360.
That number doesn't include the iOS applications like The Witcher: Versus or the interactive comic for Witcher 2. Those numbers will be increasing by a bit soon. The Mac version of the second game is due out in the fall, and the Xbox 360 version will be released in Japan on August 23.
"I'm still amazed with the result we have achieved with The Witcher franchise," said studio head Adam Badowski, in the announcement. "Many gamers on many platforms have been drawn to the vivid and complex world we have created. In the gaming world summer means a lot of great, hot deals. So if you still don't own the game look out for both retail and digital special offers."

They are smaller, yes. But for an RPG series by an independent Polish developer based on a Polish series of books that few in the USA have ever read, it's pretty incredible.
What I'd like to know, though, is how many of those sales were on the PC. On the one hand I'd say most of them were since the PC is the original home of W2 and the only home of W1 (counting the Mac as a "PC"), but on the other hand it would make sense that the 360 moved them over the edge. -

I just picked up The Witcher 2 for the 360. The opening cutsceen was AWESOME! Great graphics, incredible lighting, I forgot it was a game and thought I was watching s movie. That great feeling quickly was cut short when the game began. The opening of the game your character wakes up next to a naked woman. The lighting and detail was so bad I threw up in my mouth. Then the controls are convoluted and are not very well designed for the console. This is definitely a PC game, none of these issues are on the version, they just didn't take the time to port a proper game. Buy on PC, forget it on the console. Seriously, I sold my copy, its not worth your time.
