Borderlands save file unlocks content in Borderlands 2
Gearbox Software has announced that save files imported from the original game will unlock new content for Borderlands 2. Just... keep your expectations low.
Did you spend a million hours of your life in Borderlands? Wish you had something to show for it in the sequel? Well, your cries have been heard! Gearbox Software has announced that save files imported from the original game will unlock new content for Borderlands 2. Just... keep your expectations low.
"Vault Veterans" will receive "exclusive character customization elements," namely character heads and skins (pictured above). These items are unlocked when save data from the original game is detected. The promo applies to all platforms: PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. It may not be the most profound reward ever--but at least it's better than nothing.

I take responsibility for this. I asked them at PAX East if Borderlands 2 would check for a Borderlands saved file to unlock stuff. The guy looked at me and thought for a second and said... "hmm... no.. I don't think so.. but we might work on that.."
So, they obviously got back from PAX and added that right away.
You are welcome.
