Black Ops 2 gets 'Nuketown' pre-order bonus

Popular Black Ops map "Nuketown" is getting a 2025 update and being released as a pre-order bonus for Black Ops 2.

One of the most popular multiplayer maps from the original Call of Duty: Black Ops is making a comeback for Black Ops 2. It will be getting a facelift to make it "Nuketown 2025," and will be available to download at launch as a pre-order bonus. Activision didn't give word on when it might become available for players at large.

Nuketown is known among fans for being a small map to ensure plenty of conflicts. Plus, it features the unique setting of a suburban area. The name comes from the end-match event, in which the suburb is destroyed by a nuclear bomb. We can probably expect the tight size to remain the same, though it will be interesting to see how Treyarch takes the idea of bombing a suburb into a future-war setting.

Walling off Nuketown as a pre-order bonus is a great move, seeing how Nuketown was the annoying overplayed map of CoD:BLOPS, much like 24/7 de_dust, lowgrav instagib UT2K3 servers, or "Slayer on Blood Gulch".

It's not supposed to be a suburb, it's supposed to be a fake town used to test nuclear bombs. The US military actually did build such sites.

Cool. I think I'll just not buy it at all so I won't have to worry about whether or not I got the pre-order bonus.

BLOPS2 will at least have dedicated servers, which means there will be people playing it online.
