Call of Duty XP event not returning this year
Activision has revealed that it won't be holding another Call of Duty XP event this year, though it claims that future events are "possible."
Call of Duty XP seemed like it was destined to be an annual event. It celebrated a best-selling franchise that's released on an annual basis, and it did pretty well for itself with sold out tickets. But even with a new game on the horizon that seems to be catching some fresher buzz than recent years, Activision has opted not to have another event this year.
"Last year's Call of Duty XP was a great way to celebrate our Call of Duty community and reveal Call of Duty Elite," a spokesperson told Polygon. "Each year we try to surprise and delight our fans and this year we are planning to host some new experiences for our fans around the globe including at Gamescom later this summer in Cologne, Germany. While its possible we may host another XP in the future, we don't have plans to hold the event this year."
It would certainly be odd to note the year on the first event's logo if Activision doesn't hold any others, but that may just be left to fate and sustained popularity.
