What if Quantic Dream could build upon the strengths of Heavy Rain--but add more meaningful gameplay, and higher-octane action? The end result in Beyond.

I watched the video of this one, and found the "swat posession" thing really weird on multiple levels.
1. The way the SWAT don't seem to notice all their members shooting each other and just stand there, apparently waiting to be murdered.
2. The mechanic of "Posess police officers and make them commit suicide" seems really out of place in a Quantic game and a lot more GTA-style morality than I expected. -
Excellent preview, Andrew. A couple of questions:
1) Did Quantic give any hint as to why Jodie is hunted by police?
2) Given her darker half's propensity for a high body count, did Jodie react in any way to his carnage that you could see? Since Quantic pushes story so hard in its games, I'm wondering if you think, she and Aiden will be at odds over his (or her?) methods at any point. -

This looks like an incredible game utterly ruined by QTEs. I am not now and doubt I will ever be convinced that a strong reliance on QTEs in order to manage a prepared narrative is the way to go. They simply suck and take you out of the experience every single time they're used -- a terrible choice for a company like Quantic, who would otherwise specialize in total immersion. Ubisoft's Watch Dogs is the other extreme, allowing the player to creatively sandbox up their own solutions to conflict, violent or otherwise. One caveat to my rant; Quantic Dreams gains some leverage here because they're eminently talented at telling an engrossing story. Still, some compromise between Heavy Rain and Watch Dogs, like an on-rails set of locations and stories with dynamic controls, would send them to the top of my developer's list.
