XCOM delayed into 'fiscal 2014'

What ever happened to the XCOM FPS reboot by 2K Marin? Apparently, it is now scheduled to launch in fiscal 2014, which begins on April 1, 2013.

When 2K Games announced the release date for XCOM: Enemy Unknown, we couldn't help but wonder: what ever happened to the FPS reboot by 2K Marin? Originally scheduled to release on March 6th of this year, the game has been delayed yet again, this time away from its fiscal 2013 release into "fiscal 2014," which begins on April 1, 2013.

With such a significant delay, it's clear that the beleaguered project is undergoing a serious rework. The game has already drastically changed over the years, and suffered a setback when its studio head left the team.

Now that the game has been delayed so significantly, one can't help but wonder: will this game arrive on this generation of consoles? With rumors pointing to a late 2013 launch of the new PlayStation and Xbox, it seems 2K might be repositioning the title as a launch game for next generation systems.

The title of this article and the title of the other XCOM article are messing with my brain. How can it come out soon and also be delayed! What's happening!?

XCOM: Enemy Unknown is coming Oct. 9. The shooter version of XCOM (which this story is about) is Fiscal 2014.

Seriously though, I dont think there are a lot of people waiting for this game. I personally do not care about this game nor I will be buying it. XCOM Enemy Unknown is the one they should have developed to begin with and not this. This game can go die in a fire :)

This explains why it completely dropped off the public radar lately. Surprising that they're pushing it instead of just canceling. It'll be interesting to see how this turns out.

Guess I'm the only one who wants this game. It reminded me of Bioshock. Any game that does that deserves a chance to me.

Hope this game burns in a fiery hole where it will be fucked in the ass for eternity by aids infested diarrhea monsters. I feel much better now letting it all come out. :) On a serious note, this news does not surprise me. With all these delays and if the developer is still hell bent on releasing this game I really hope they take the time to turn this project around. Current media/info available for this game make me as a long time Xcom fan believe that this game really does not have anything to do with it other than maybe some very very basic components of the formula to the point where it is not identifiable with Xcom in any form other than by name.

I sense it'll be Splinter Cell Convictions'd with how they started with an idea that turned out to be not so fun and then reorganized it to something resembling the initial idea.
