Halo 4 Limited Edition, 'Infinity' multiplayer unveiled

Microsoft says that 'Halo Infinity Multiplayer' will have you "surrounded by the sights, sounds and crew of the biggest vessel in the UNSC fleet," with multiplayer "embedded in the fiction of Halo like never before." The story-based Spartan Ops mode ties into this, delivering missions for singleplayer or co-op that overlap with the campaign. Microsoft also talks up adding loads of new modes, armour abilities, weapons, and vehicles to multiplayer, and a 'Specialisation' system which sounds a bit like perks in the Call of Duty series. But enough of that, what's in Halo 4's Limited Edition? Packed into a very nice box is the UNSC Infinity Briefing Packet, with blueprints and schematics, but most of the goodies are digital. Your $100 gets you access to three DLC multiplayer map packs, each with three maps, plus instant unlocks of six specialisations before regular players get them. To decorate yourself in-game, there are unique in-game assault rifle and Spartan-IV armour skins, and a unique emblem. To adorn your Xbox Live Avatar, you get a Halo-y prop and Spartan-IV armour set. Then there's also an extended 90-minute cut of the Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn live-action series, and exclusive videos about making the game and whatnot. Halo 4 is headed exclusively to Xbox 360 on November 6. Here's that shiny LE box:

      Buy game for $100, get DLC for free? I can't figure out if I like this or not. Unless you wait and hope to get all the DLC later for a sale price you'd effectively be paying $10 for the shiny case and other extras, assuming you plan to buy the DLC anyway (est. $30).

      Not unreasonable although I feel like I'd just be throwing my arms up and admitting that I'm willing to pay $90 to buy a content-complete game. As for paying $10 for a prettier case, I've been doing that since FFXII and have yet to feel even the tiniest twinge of remorse.

      Smart people of the 'shack, is this a good thing? My tired brain can't quite figure it out.

      Halo was a three part game, everything beyond that is driven by greed and lack of imagination.
      Thanks for the offer but I'll pass...

      (the same holds true for all games such as this, GoW, assassin's creed, etc)

        Gears was 3, as for Halo I've read some of the books and frankly there's so much I woild rather experience of the Halo universe as a game than what we've seen. I don't think any story or game should be limited to 3 parts, I agree that drawing out a story that really wasn't meant to be more than a one off almost always turns out bad but think of the Harry Potter series in 7 parts, Lord of the Rings in 4 (I think? Including the Hobbit btw). I think Microsoft don't plan to make tons of money via first party games rather they promote third part games (COD, Witcher 2 so far) to build better relationships with developers and emsure the best gamng experience for third party games is on the 360. Why make a risky investment on making your own exclusive games when you can rely on others to make games for you with many advantages of exclusive games?
