We've known that Minecraft has been extremely popular and a cash cow for developer Mojang, so it isn't too much of a surprise to learn that the Xbox 360 version, a port from the PC, has done extremely well.
Markus "Notch" Persson used his Twitter account to reveal the news of just how well the game has done, saying the 360 version turned a profit after about an hour of sales. He said the 24-hour sales figures were "very, very good."
The game is almost a direct port, so the development costs for the game were less than the original, but profitability in a hour still says a lot for the popularity of the game. Check out Steve's review to find out why the game has such a huge fan base.

The console version is where minecraft was when it was in its mid-beta stage but with beds. Crafting is easier but can take longer, inventory management is slower and camera movement slower. Personally I fare worse against a group of mobs because to me the controls feel a tad more tankish. All in all it's still a great game on the 360, I'm really enjoying it and 4 player splitscreen plus xbox live rocks! I have heard that the world is limited in the 360 version but I haven't reached it yet (only 2 hours played so far).
