'PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale' domain registered
Sony has registered a domain name for "PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale," just as a reveal is teased for Thursday.
The rumors of a Sony-themed brawler with various PlayStation mascots appears to finally be coming to a head. The company has registered a domain name that will likely serve as the title for the game, and a mysterious PlayStation 3 announcement has been teased for later this week.
The domain registration (via VG247) is for the .com of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, all one word. Unsurprisingly, it's registered to Sony Computer Entertainment America.
On top of that, Geoff Keighley has tweeted that GTTV is set to reveal "huge new PS3 exclusive" with footage, and had some tweet-banter with Sony Worldwide Studios head Shuhei Yoshida this morning. It's unconfirmed of course, but seems pretty likely that this will be the official unveil of Battle Royale.
Rumors have been surrounding the concept since long before it had a name. In November, job listings outed the fighting game, and some leaks hinted at playable characters like PaRappa, Kratos, Sly Cooper, Nathan Drake, Sweet Tooth, and Fat Princess. At the time it was nicknamed "Title Fight," but that just doesn't roll off the tongue like "PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale."
