Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition coming to iPad

Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition is coming to the iPad this summer.

17

Apple users who are fans of the original Baldur's Gate series can rejoice: The Enhanced Edition is coming to iPad this summer.

The upgraded version of the classic RPG originally created by BioWare will be coming to the Apple App Store roughly the same time that the PC version will be available. The new game will be using an enhanced version of the Infinity Engine.

The images sent with the announcement show the game already running on the iPad. The release also mentions a new adventure and a new character for BGEE on all platforms.

If Baldur's Gate 3 ever gets off the ground as Beamdog is hoping, this announcement bodes well for it also appearing on the iPad.

I'm loving it so far, just need somebody to create a nice classic might and magic clone or port some elders scrolls games/clones would be nice. Silversword just doesnt do it for me and The Quest is a little too iphoney.

I think you got the wrong might and magic. I was talking about the original party based games and not Heros of might and magic. Those games are all like Heros :(

I wonder if by any chance you can buy it once and play it on all platforms.

If not, I'm sure I'll get it on PC and iPad both, but it'd be nice.

iOS that would possible across iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch but not back to the Mac. It's unlikely you'll be able to play the same characters and have all of your saves across iCloud but I know it is possible.

I can live with that. There are so many race/class/alignment combos I've never tried that I can happily do different characters on each platform.

It wouldn't have to be done over iCloud. The saves could be handled by a separate server through the game.

No. Diablo is an action rpg with an emphasis on character design and loot. Baldur's Gate is a classical rpg with an emphasis on story and pausable party combat.

Newest iPad only? The URL in their announcement says "iPad 3," but there's nothing else in the body text that indicates the game wouldn't be playable on the 1st or 2nd-gen hardware.

It should work fine on the iPad 2, same CPU and everything, only difference would be lower res graphics which everyone supplies anyway. First gen iPad may be questionable, some games don't run very well on it.

It's kind of crazy when you think about it. One of the deepest and richest RPG's ever made which can take 100's of hours to complete is coming to a device flooded with games you normally play for 5 minutes stints. Such a crazy contrast.
