From Software continuing Souls games, looking into mobile
From Software talks about the future of its studio, from more Souls games to considering mobile and tablet development.
From Software has had two bona fide cult hits with Demon's Souls and Dark Souls. Head of R&D Masanori Takeuchi says there's more to come in the series, as the studio continues to explore the classic moody fantasy genre.
"Of course, it's not over yet," Takeuchi told GameTrailers. "You have to go back to our roots, which is King's Field. We've made many games in that series. We've always been enamored by dark fantasy action RPGs. That's just been our core DNA and I think we'll continue to utilize that."
He also remarked that the studio is aware of the demand for a PC version, but the decision will ultimately be left up to the publisher, Namco Bandai. In the meantime, director of business development Eiichi Nakajima says the studio is "considering future tablet and smart phone development." Takeuchi added that those devices are "an interesting challenge."
"If we do go down that path, it's not going to be what you see on the market today, [which are] more watered down, less 'core' experiences," Takeuchi explained. "We like to make games for core gamers, so if we take that approach, it's going to be a core experience on a tablet, something that gamers are going to love."
That doesn't necessarily mean that From would release a Souls game on mobile devices, but it sounds like any mobile game the studio publishes will be driven by the same spirit.

How could you drag yourself so far through hell TWICE... just to give up at the last gate!?
By the way.. that guy was a real bitch to kill. I heard some people say he wasn't that tough.. but I fought him every night for a week before I finally got him. I don't know if I was too low level or what... he just consistently kicked my ass until I learned every single move he did and reacted to (or predicted it) perfectly. By the end of that week I had a pattern to run by those stupid Black Knights without taking a scratch... I could practically do it with my eyes closed.
