Rumor: Mass Effect 3 multiplayer DLC spotted
A supposed screen grab from the Mass Effect 3 developer server shows off playable classes for the Geth and Batarian race, plus special classes for the Asari and Krogan.
BioWare has promised DLC for both the single player and multiplayer halves of Mass Effect 3.
"We're going to be shipping with a pretty impressive array of different things you can unlock... but we're also planning on expanding that over time," BioWare's Casey Hudson previously said. A purported leak shows what some of those "expansions" will be.
An image spotted by Reddit (via Eurogamer) reveals newly playable character classes, supposedly taken from a Mass Effect 3 developer server.
If the image (above) is legitimate, the game will add Geth versions of the Engineer and Infiltrator, Batarian versions of the Soldier and Sentinel, and the entirely new classes Krogan Battlemaster and Asari Justicar. It's the last two that raise eyebrows, since all of the other multiplayer classes have been based on the ones found in the campaign.
Our own Garnett Lee was impressed by the multiplayer mode in his review. Some fans were concerned it was tied too stringently to success in the campaign, but BioWare has since clarified that you can attain the "best" ending without touching it. Adding more multiplayer content seems inevitable, but without official word from BioWare, this is a rumor for the time being.
Shacknews has contacted BioWare, and will update as more information becomes available.

The MP has been pretty fun as a distraction or side thing. I like it more than I thought I would. I can't imagine wanting to buy DLC though... there isn't really enough to it to make me want to play MP more than a few times.
They need to add 4v4 CTF with rocket launchers and quad damage pickups and then maybe I'll consider it. -
Saw it a mile away. Not surprised one bit.
That said, I think the MP is a decent side feature much like Mercenaries for Resident Evil. I've sank a few hours into it and gotten two classes to lvl 20. Random unlocks are frustrating though, analogous to buying packs of collectible cards and never getting what you want. -

As far as I can tell, there's only one for each multiplayer map, so like six or eight total. And they have storylines and a bit more involved gameplay than the multiplayer. The rest of the sidemissions are full on things like the loyalty quests in ME2.
As for the multiplayer affecting the singleplayer, I get the distinct impression that someone said 'well, if the maps are going to be on the disc anyway...' -
