Vessel headed to Steam on March 1
Vessel, the upcoming liquid-physics platformer by indie developer Strange Loop Games gets a March 1 release date on PC, along with a new trailer.
Indie developer Strange Loop Games has announced that the PC version of its upcoming liquid-physics platformer, Vessel, will be available on Steam come March 1. For early indicators as to its quality, one only need note that Vessel has been nominated for awards in both the 13th Annual Independent Game Festival and the 2010 Indie Game Challenge.
In Vessel, players take on the role of Arkwright, an inventor of biological machines called Fluros. These Fluros come in several different varieties--such as water, lava, glowing goo, and chemicals--and have apparently gone a bit haywire, turning on their owners and gumming up the city's machinery. The player will need to create, manipulate, and even destroy different types of Fluros as he attempts to bring order to the chaos.
The action in Vessel takes place across four different worlds, leading Arkwright on a quest to invent a mysterious contraption called "The Accelerator." The puzzles throughout the game hinge on its very cool-looking liquid simulation tech, made possible by the team's proprietary Vessel engine. For example, the different liquid-based Fluros can melt, combine with other fluid types, reform, and re-grow lost limbs.

Vessel will retail for $14.99 when it launches for PC via Steam and the Strange Loop Games website on March 1. The game is also headed to Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network, though exactly when the game will hit those platforms has yet to be revealed.
