Star Wars: The Old Republic update 1.1 delayed

The first big content update for Star Wars: The Old Republic, titled Rise of the Rakghouls, has been delayed while BioWare stamps out some space-problems discovered by players on the public test server.

Today was supposed to see the launch of the first big Star Wars: The Old Republic content update, but Jedi and Sith looking to explore the new Flashpoint and Operation will need to wait a while longer. Update 1.1, titled Rise of the Rakghouls, has been delayed indefinitely after players on the public test server discovered "issues requiring additional testing."

On the bright side, as the update was delayed, the scheduled weekly maintenance that would've been used to launch it was also delayed. BioWare now expects to launch the update "some time within the next few days."

"These issues were primarily brought to our attention by the diligent players on the Public Test Server Forums. Your participation in testing helps to improve the game as a whole, and we appreciate your discussion and feedback," the developer says. "The bug reports you provide are a valuable part of the development process. Thank you!"

BioWare has a long stream of future content updates planned, with some people even already working on content that you won't get to play until next year.

Here's a peek at the new Flashpoint in Rise of the Rakghouls, which sees the planet Kaon stricken with a mutant plague:

Omg! They're so creative! There's a PLAGUE/VIRUS! And it turns people into ZOMBIES! Never seen that story line before!!

HOW DO THEY COME UP WITH ALL THESE UNIQUE IDEAS?!?!

Obviously trolling aside, maybe you've played the KOTOR series...

Rakghouls were in the old republic games long before call of duty and all those generic shooters decided to add zombies as DLC.

Rakghouls aren't even zombies, goddamnit. They're mutant monsters. If Bioware hadn't put the word "ghoul" in the name this would never have been a thing to begin with!

To be fair, I agree with you. They might not technically be zombies but it is a pretty hackneyed situation. I rolled my eyes pretty hard as well when I got to Balmorra in SWTOR and they were like OMG STARSHIP TROOPERS KILL SOME BIG BUGS FOR US!

The whole Rakghoul thing is from the original KOTOR game, which was before all the other zombie games came out. So calling it uninspired is not the most educated description.

But rakghouls are magical force mutants! The actual undead "Romero" style zombies in the Star Wars universe are related to Imperial bioweapons Project I71A "Project Blackwing": http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Imperial_bioweapons_Project_I71A

Reading some of the comments here makes me wonder why, besides money, anyone would want to release more content for games. All the self-entitled, I know better types that comment on some of these games makes me ill.

Because content cannabilizes itself in MMOs, people jump ship after they are "through" with the game. There are some exceptions like PVP oriented MMOs, but generally killing all bosses, having done and seen everything makes people move on.
