Minicraft, the 48-hour game from Minecraft creator Markus "Notch" Persson for the Ludum Dare 22, has been given an unofficial Android port. It's free, just like the PC game, and available now on the marketplace.

The app (via Joystiq) was handled by "Folstad Consulting Inc," which usually makes phone book tools. It uses a virtual D-pad, but otherwise seems similar to the PC version. Folstad is careful not to take any credit for the original game, stating the port is just "for fun and to learn the codebase."

Persson recently announced he is currently working on a sequel to Minicraft in his spare time, which he later called Minitale.

I'm cautious about this game, I really want to play but I don't want to love it and then realize it's never going to be expanded upon much. I doubt it's even a fraction as girthy as the typical RPG fare, I don't see how it would even be possible being the '48-hour' game. Judging from Notch's history of ho-hum development.

      Yeah yea unofficial/alpha/free etc.
