Platinum Games' upcoming game, Anarchy Reigns, has been mysteriously delayed. The developer has been the center of attention for the past few days, ever since it was revealed that it was working on Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.
Anarchy Reigns, an online brawler that appears to be a spiritual successor to God Hand, was originally scheduled for release in January. It has now been delayed to July 3rd.
The press release announcing the delay almost went into our spam filter, because the subject declared the game will be "longer and larger" than ever before.
"Anarchy Reigns brings a new take to the brawler genre and we've decided to take a little more time to deliver the full knockout punch," Sega VP Gary Knight said in the announcement. "I can't reveal much now, but it's something to do with scale. Let's just say traditional one on one or two versus two fighters will be a thing of the past..."
So, we can expect a larger online mode, we suppose? Anarchy Reigns will be available for PS3 and Xbox 360.

Good on Sega for giving Platinum more time. We now know that Platinum started working with Kojima Productions on Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance as early as mid-2010, back when Inaba's team was finishing up Vanquish, which released in October 2010. And I have the suspicion that there's a third, unannounced project going on, perhaps something that Kamiya is working on...

"Anarchy Reigns, an online brawler that appears to be a spiritual successor to God Hand"
have you played God Hand? The gameplay looks nothing like God Hand, and the character design is a stereotype of what Americans are supposed to like (muscleheads voiced by Steve Blum et al) while God Hand is a parody of Chop Sockey, old Japanese tv, etc
