Developer Just Add Water promised their HD remake of Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath would be coming "soon." Well, now we know exactly how soon. The PlayStation Network version of Stranger's Wrath, enhanced with snazzy new graphics and a few new gameplay tweaks, will be available on December 27th. It will be a "worldwide" release, as well.

While the initial release will sport a shiny Platinum Trophy, there's a few features that will be added post-release.

For example, stereoscopic 3D support will not be included in the "initial version" due to time constraints. A later patch will not only add 3D, but also PlayStation Move support as well. "We will be bringing them in an update in a couple months' time, along with some other little extras we've got planned," the PlayStation.Blog reports.

Stranger's Wrath will be available for $14.99.

This is also fairly good news if, like me, you have Stranger's Wrath sitting in your Steam backlog.

"For PC, the HD remasters are free updates for existing customers that will be available 6–8 weeks after the PS3 releases."

Now given their past struggles I wouldn't count on that schedule, or indeed on this happening at all... but if it does, cool.

Stranger's Wrath was the best game that no one played on the original Xbox. Hopefully this combined with the Steam release gives it the audience it deserves!
