Rumor: Valve employee wears Half-Life 3 shirt
A Uber Entertainment's Chandana Ekanayake spotted a Valve employee wearing a Half-Life 3 t-shirt at an industry event, and snapped a photo to show the world.
A mysterious Valve employee was reportedly spotted wearing a Half-Life 3 shirt, making for either a coy hint or a cruel troll. Possibly both. The Valve employee was spotted by another games professional at an industry event, who snapped the photo to share it with the world so all can share in the renewed cries for more Half-Life.
"All I'm saying is I saw this at a local game developer event worn by a Valve employee," tweeted Uber Entertainment's Chandana Ekanayake (via PC Gamer). He didn't provide any more info on the Valve employee, so a close-up of the t-shirt from a second-hand source is all we have.
What does it mean? Probably nothing. But it's a sign that Valve is thinking about Half-Life 3, at least. It's been seven years since the release of Half-Life 2, and four since Episode 2. The concept of "Valve Time" is named after the company's careful, deliberately slow pace when creating a game, but something has to be in the works by now, right?

Remember when this code was leaked a few months ago from the DOTA2 beta client? I hadn;t heard about this until today.
/src/game/server/ep3/weapon_icegun.cpp
/src/game/server/ep3/weaponizer_concrete.cpp
/src/game/server/ep3/weaponizer_liquid.cpp
/src/game/server/ep3/weaponizer_metal.cpp/src/matchmaking/matchmaking_cstrike

dont sweat it. by the time it comes out they will have developed a way to interface directly with the games, via a socket at the base of your spine, and will have anti aging treatments to extend your youth. in fact you might be even physically younger than you are now when the next half life comes out!

TBH...Quake players were shitting on CS right when it first appeared for being too slow and less rewarding of skill...so its not like it was always considered some sort of competitive masterpiece (I'm not saying it doesn't require skill...it actually does...though I've never cared all that much for CS or the skill set it emphasizes...but I'll admit that it does require skill and its still enjoyable for those who like it...for me it felt too much like Clan Arena/Rocket Arena with less interesting weapons and some objectives thrown in).

I doubt there will be a Source 2 as well, but they really need to step their game up on their current version of the engine.
Texture work needs to be of a much higher resolution. Geometry work needs to get with the times and have far less blocky only areas, more smoother curves on objects, etc. Maybe start adding some nice DX10/11 features for those who want more eye candy. -

There's no NEED? Portal 2 looked fucking good, ran amazingly well on the PS3, I can only assume just as well on the more powerful 360 and seriously - Portal is a great example of how art direction can trump any bullshit fancy effects. PLUS Portal 2, seemed to have pretty fancy effects?
A lot of conspiracy theorists think "oh nope, he's doing source 2!!! with HL3, in a lab, surprise bitches!!" they aren't, they'll just keep slowly updating their engine, helping them make actual games quicker.

Does anyone really believe anything from Valve nowadays? They rarely live up to their promises, other times they just outright lie. Halflife episodes out every 6 months? L4D will have tons of DLC? Nope, 4 years since episode 3 was due. Nope, we'll just turn what should have been a DLC for L4D into a new game to wring some more cash out or customers.
Valve loves to troll people. Believe nothing till any game or content is actually for sale.
