Saints Row: The Third cheats offered as pay DLC

A batch of DLC for Saints Row: The Third has been released, including one content pack that essentially offers the equivalent of cheat codes for $3.

Though Saints Row: The Third just arrived in stores this morning, a handful of DLC is now available for purchase for the title.

The most curious batch of content available is the "Invincible" DLC, which gives players the power to "never worry about dying or running out of ammo." Essentially, the content is nothing more than a few cheat code toggles and it's priced at $2.99 on the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.

"More cheats than you'll know what to do with," the content's Steam page notes. "Never worry about dying or running out of ammo! Unlock the Get Down Cheat that makes you ultra limber. Super Saints gives you better guns and better health while Ultimate Clip ensures that you're always ready to fire. Get Infinite Mass for your vehicle plus Super Explosions and you'll be ready for anything!"

Personally, I'm not a fan of this industry trend. Other games have sold quick access to unlocks, like EA titles, for a price, sure, but this is different. These are cheats. At least when Microsoft sells its 'Keys to the City' DLC for the Crackdown series, they don't charge for it. Capcom recently launched similar cheat-based DLC for Dead Rising 2: Off the Record for $5.

There is other content, however. For $1.99, players can grab the 'Shark Attack Pack,' featuring a hat and fish gut firing weapon dubbed thee Shark-o-Matic. There's also THQ's highly touted Saints Row: The Third 'Season Pass' on offer for $20 and includes future access to number of new missions among other bonuses.

According to THQ, about 40 weeks worth of content is planned for Saints Row: The Third.

      Does it disable achievements?

I like this game, god damnit, they could at least wait until a couple weeks after launch before they try to cash in on gamers' good will with this bullshit.

Oh, don't you remember? The Shack posted a story earlier in the year with a quote saying they're gonna do a whole year of DLC for this game! So yeah, look forward to that!

Then don't fucking buy it. Don't buy the game if you think its not worth it or they cheaped out, don't buy the DLC if you don't think the DLC is worth it. Super complicated I know.

I'm just pointing out the absurdity of a whole year of DLC releases. I honestly don't know if this game can sustain that kind of constant update.

Yeah I was going to buy this game, then I heard about this.

Yeah, I think I'm going to wait for the release that includes the DLC with it.

        Let's see:
-It's a fully steamworks enabled game
-Volition fixed their misjudgment from the SR2 port disaster
-Multiple PC fans on this board have given the thumbs up

..and you're giving it up over DLC that costs a few bucks and is in no way required to purchase.

        Ok.

I'm going to wait it out to see if they offer a GOTY/Ultimate/whatever edition that has all the DLC.
Cheat code DLC is incredibly sleazy though, not sure if I want to support a company that does that.

i'm just not going to buy games on release date anymore unless its blizzard or valve. atleast they don't charge for additonal content they miss at launch yet.

Didn't the past games have cheats?

Yes, and this does too. You unlock them though the campaign, the DLC just unlocks them early.

Which makes this DLC completely a nonissue imo.
