Harmonix developing 'multiple new music games'
Harmonix has announced that it's working on multiple new music games, outside of their Rock Band and Dance Central franchises.
Harmonix has confirmed that it is developing "multiple new music games," outside of their popular Rock Band or Dance Central franchises. In fact, according to the company's chief operating officer, the games "won't resemble" the two titles at all.
In a recent interview with Bloomberg (via Eurogamer), Florian Hunziker expects the company to double its profits in the next few years if the games do as well as expected.
Surprisingly, life after Viacom has been quite comfortable for the team. Hunziker predicts that his company will have generated around $100 million in revenue in 2011, making it the developer's most profitable year to date. Much of this success can be attributed to the positive reception of the Dance Central series, which debuted as the second best-selling game for Microsoft's controller-less Kinect peripheral, behind Kinect Sports.
While Harmonix hasn't shared any specific details about what these new titles might be, it plans on supporting their existing franchises. “We’re going to continue to invest in the [downloadable content] business,” Hunziker promised.
