Rainbow 6 Patriots 'target gameplay' trailer
Ubisoft Montreal has released a trailer showing 'target gameplay' concepts for the upcoming Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 Patriots, and one of the worst birthdays imaginable.
What starts out as a relaxing birthday at home, quickly turns nightmarish in the new "target gameplay" trailer for the recently announced Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 Patriots. The new game is poised to tackle themes of domestic terrorism in its New York city setting. This proof-of-concept trailer (which doesn't feature any real gameplay footage) tells the tragic story of a man--who seems to have benefited financially from the recent mortgage crisis--who is put in a very tough situation that involves explosives, a kidnapped wife and child, and, of course, the Rainbow 6 team.
The proceedings are gritty and compelling, and pack more than a little bit of modern-day thematic resonance. The situation in the trailer is resolved, but by the end, the developer's promise of forcing players to make "tough ethical decisions" is on display, in spades.
Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 Patriots is planned for a 2013 release.

Not my cup of tea.
A frankenstein monster of things I hate, including Heavy Rain style pointless quicktime "gameplay," and cheap Call of Duty style cheesy "emotionally charged" scripted events. Casualized with x-ray vision taking away any strategic element of having to cover your angles and any risk of being exposed while moving. -
