Yet another piece of Gears of War 3 DLC has been announced today. Unlike the others announced so far, this will be the first free update for Epic's popular shooter.
The "Versus Booster Map Pack" will be available on November 24th, and will add five maps into the Gears of War 3 multiplayer mode. Its Thanksgiving Day release is intentional, as Epic says it's meant to "give thanks" to fans that have supported the franchise so far.
Included in the DLC are two maps from Gears 1: Swamp and Clocktower. In addition, Asura, Rustlung, and Blood Drive from the for-pay "Horde Command Pack" will be available to play.
So, why should you bother paying the 800 Microsoft Points for the "Horde" pack, you ask? While these maps will be playable in public matchmaking, the "Horde" pack is still required to access Horde's fortification upgrades, new playable characters, and their respective weapon skins. And, you do want the extra 250 Gamerscore, don't you?
The "Horde" pack, which was previously delayed due to "technical issues," is now available on Xbox Live Marketplace.
The next paid Gears 3 DLC will be "RAAM's Shadow," which adds three hours of new campaign gameplay, set before the events of the original Gears of War. You'll be able to play as Zeta Squad, elite Locust soldiers, or General RAMM himself. It will be available on December 13th for 1200 Microsoft Points.
