Battlefield 3 PS3 early DLC access replaces free Battlefield 1943
When DICE announced that Battlefield 3 players on P3 would get expansions first, it neglected to mention that this deal would replace the free bundled copy of Battlefield 1943 once promised on PS3. With BF3 now out, it's belatedly come clean.
When Battlefield 3 developer DICE announced that PlayStation 3 players would be getting expansions before other platforms, it neglected to mention that this deal was replacing the free bundled copy of Battlefield 1943 promised on PS3. With BF3 now out in North America, it's belatedly come clean.
"In lieu of 1943 being available on disk for PS3 customers, EA has made all BF3 expansions available early to PS3 customers," the folks behind the official Battlefield Twitter account confessed when asked by a fan where their BF1943 was.
The free copy of 1943 was announced during Sony's E3 2011 press conference, when it was said the $15 downloadable title would be included on the BF3 disc exclusively for PS3.
This is not the first time DICE has disappointed people with BF1943. Following a long string of delays, the Battlefield 1942 remake's PC edition was ultimately cancelled so DICE could focus on BF3.
Our PC and Xbox 360 review of Battlefield 3 is coming next week, but for now you can check out Xav's field report from the single-player on PC.
