Nintendo files 'Circle Pad Pro' trademark
Nintendo has filed for a trademark for the 3DS "Circle Pad Pro," seemingly confirming the official name and western release for the second analog stick.
Nintendo has been quiet on North American plans for the 3DS right analog stick attachment that was officially announced in September. But now, a new trademark filing seems to give one more indication that the odd accessory will come to the west.
Siliconera reports that Nintendo has filed a trademark for "Nintendo 3DS Circle Pad Pro" in the West, alongside one in Japan for "slide pad expansion." The Circle Pad is Nintendo's name for the 3DS analog thumbstick.
This isn't really surprising; Capcom had previously spilled the beans on western plans when speaking about its upcoming game Resident Evil Revelations. But this news does give us one more reason to expect the dongle will come our way, and an official name to boot. Slap a "Pro" on the end and we might forget that it makes our 3DS look like it has a growth.
