A short new Battlefield 3 trailer shows off the game's itinerary of vehicles. Set in the "near-future," BF3 features jets, tanks, and helicopters. EA calls them "the most advanced combat vehicles out there." We think they're just trying to show off.

"Since its inception, vehicles have been one of the signature hallmarks of the Battlefield series," EA added.

Battlefield 3 is coming to PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on October 25.

Yeah, I was in college when BF1942 was popular and I played the Dickens out of that title. Shore bombardments on the Midway map were always fun. I'll be getting this on release day.

Except this won't be anything like that. The maps on the PC are large, however all the flags, the buildings, and the action are concentrated in a very small area in the middle of the maps; the actual size of the maps in consoles.

Battlefield 1943 doesn't exist, OK. Never touched a PC, so it doesn't exist.

You mean the game that was console only, had a player cap of 24, only 4 maps (all pacific theater), didn't let you use ships or artillery, only had three classes, had infinite ammo, and regenerating health?

          Would they?

They would basically be missile platforms, but would have to be miles out to sea. If they were close to the shore they would just be peppered by RPG's and plane/chopper/tank spam.

That does sort of suck; although, there are not many modern warships with major guns on them any more. Artillery is still used though.

This! BF1943 was so small as a DL for Xbox360. I wish they would have made a serious and huge sequel to BF1942 that has gigantic maps, etc. That would be wonderful.

The MOD for BF1942 called Forgotten Hope got close to that.

Those old planes too. I've never liked the jets, but those prop planes were a lot of fun.

I agree. There is something about the older prop. planes that made them more awesome to me. They also work better in a video game, because you can imagine them flying at a speed wherein the ground forces actually have a chance at shooting them down. If it were a modern jet, they'd be screaming by so fast that you can't even shoot the machine guns on it at the infantry with any hope of hitting anything.

Andrew, I'm pretty sure itinerary doesn't currently mean what you seem to think it means, or anything like it.

      http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/itinerary

For a word to take on additional meanings I think more than one person has to use it that way, and since you're the only person currently using itinerary this way, you're not going to make yourself understood very well or make people think you know what you're talking about. Sorry but it's a bit annoying seeing words get used so wrongly. I'm not saying the meaning of words should never be changed or that new words shouldn't be invented or new ways of speaking adapted, but I think in this case what's happened is that you've assumed a word already meant something which it doesn't.
