Valkyria Chronicles 3 English release not happening
Sega has confirmed that neither North America nor Europe will receive a localized version of Valkyria Chronicles 3... and you are all to blame.
Sega's critically acclaimed Valkyria Chronicles franchise may be done for in the States. Sega has confirmed that neither North America nor Europe will receive a localized version of Valkyria Chronicles 3... and you are all to blame.
Sega's Hiroshi Seno confirmed that the game will not be localized due to poor sales of Valkyria Chronicles 2.
Gamespot tracked down Sega's team manager of console sales in Singapore, who confirmed that the PSP's dwindling popularity in non-Japanese territories made it difficult to justify localizing the third game.
Why didn't you buy Valkyria Chronicles 2? It was one of my favorite games last year, and it earned a decent Metacritic rating to boot. Thanks to all of you, you're depriving Steve of one of his most anticipated games, and one of my favorite games from Tokyo Game Show. I can only hope that Sega forgives your sins by possibly re-releasing the game on Vita, or by giving another publisher (XSEED, perhaps?) a chance at bringing the game stateside.

So would have the other million that bought the original for the PS3.
Moving the series to the PSP was a giant blunder on their part. They even had a shiny new engine ready to go on the hardware so development costs would mostly be content related. 2/3rds of the million the original sold was in the US too.

Yeah i bought Valkyria Chronicles 1 for ps3 and was all hyped to buy 2 until it was revealed it was psp exclusive. (dumb)
Now the tool that makes decisions on these things believe they are justified in sighting poor sales due to fact they released a sequel on a semi popular portable and wonder why the game did not sell so well ?? ((dumber) heres a hint for the jackass who made this decision. If you would have dual released. The game would have sold twice as much or even more))
N now they are just going to say screw it . (these people who run these things are some of the most idiotic people . i wish they would take to their dumb ideas and mismanagement to some other industry. )

VC2 was largely regarded in the wider world as a step back from VC1 in everything but game mechanics. A switch from the world-applauded themes of war to a Japan-targeted high school setting, a reduction of squadmates, a lack of concern about an imminent war, no fear of mortality, and a smaller range of squadmate personalities drew a great deal of criticism. Dual-language voiceovers were disabled, some promotional codes were disabled, and the demo was released overseas one year after Japan (and one month before release). Sega was targeting Japan and Japan alone with this release, and they know it.
Considering that and how the game switched platforms suddenly, it's not surprising how the game didn't get a smash hit in terms of sales - especially when comparing it to VC2' s "second best-selling video game in Japan during its release week." This looks like a major case of Capcom, where it compares the sales of a game heavily marketed in Japan to the rest of the world, and draws conclusions in that vacuum. -
VC2 was a perfect example of a developer not understanding how to capitalize on the strengths of their initial outing while fixing the faults. To make matter worse, they tailored the game to a more specific audience that is much smaller outside of Japan with stuff like the high school aspect. And then they put it on the PSP. It should be no surprise as to why it failed outside of Japan and why VC3 would likely fail as well.
Maybe they'll get their act together for VC4 and we'll see it stateside. Of course, this is Sega so that's not going to happen. -
This makes me angry. No wonder people dont want more japanese type games anymore, the series they do like goes to a handheld when the first sold pretty well considering for the home console. Then when the second game doesn't sell well on said handheld they decide not to bring the 3rd at all?
This is probably the best stratagy game i have played in a long while. The system it uses is basicaly the same system from the tabletop miniature game Infinity, which is a great rules system. Sure tactics ogre and FFtactics are great strat games, but this was fresh and interessting, and perfect for a guns/shooting strat game.
I think this is probly more of a Sega problem, i dont think they have released a game i have wanted to play in a really long time and they lost what ever magic they had. I LOVED PSO and now PSO2 is PC only, which is fine, but i have enough MMO's on my PC, now my 360 i deffinetly would have bought it, but yet another game they will bring to the states but in a limited compacity.
