Battlefield 3 full TV spot suffers 99 Problems
I've got 99 problems, but faith in AAA video games marketing ain't one, so let's all simply watch things explode in the Battlefield 3 television commercial.
Following a contentious teaser last week, Electronic Arts has released the full, minute-long television commercial for Battlefield 3. Myself, I've got 99 problems, but faith in AAA video game marketing ain't one, so let's all simply watch stuff explode.
Battlefield 3 is slated to airdrop onto PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on October 25, preceded by an multiplayer open beta test kicking off this week. Now, what may be considered a problem by some is that add-ons will be release one week early on PS3 as part of a timed exclusivity deal, starting with the 'Back to Karkand' map pack given as a pre-order bonus.

I think most rap is garbage as well. There's a lot of awesome hip-hop & instrumentalists like DJ Shadow/Krush/etc but most of rap is as Demon said. It's also worth saying that most pop songs are the same and that most country songs are just as pathetic. Yes yes, it's so sad you had a divorce b/c your wife cheated on you with livestock & that you lost everything int he divorce but your dog and then your dog got ass cancer and died and now you don't even have beer money...boooo whoooo

I'm not surprised. It's just EA taking another page from the Modern Warfare playbook.

Rarely do songs get chosen based on relevance to the movie, game, story etc. None of the Gears songs ever have relevance. What TOOL song was played in the first Iron Man trailer? What relevance does TOOL, or any of their songs, have to Tony Stark? Plain and simple, the song just doesn't mesh well with the video. Better off playing some Black Keys.

I'm glad the sexism accusation silliness hasn't made its way into this post.
This ad is the product of marketing people who said "rap is cool, right? We want to be cool! We must use rap!"
Yeah, it's a shame that there are no female soldiers in this, but I don't think it's because of any sexist feelings on the part of DICE. More than likely, I would guess that it was very much considered, but decided against because it would very likely bring a whole lot of negative press to the game from clueless pundits. Anyone can try to deny it, but the headlines would be "Realistic Game Allows Players to Kill Women" not "Female Soldiers Also Featured." -

I don't have an issue with it (who the fuck cares about a one week delay), but one could argue that BF3 was originally sold to the gaming public as a PC title first and foremost, to be ported to the consoles. Which is why the raised eyebrows for the PS3 exclusivity. Especially when EA's trying so damn hard to steal some glory away from MW3, which sells so much better on the Xbox.

I like the PC vs PS3 comparison trailer better: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGbo50Ar420
