Rage is three discs on Xbox 360, requires 8GB install on PS3
The PS3 version of Rage will demand quite a bit of hard drive space: 8GB worth, in fact. Xbox 360 owners are also being asked to install the game, three discs worth.
id's upcoming shooter, Rage, is no small game. The PC version will require 25GB of free hard drive space minimum, a requirement that some Shackers are finding "painful."
So, how do the consoles fare? The PS3 version will demand quite a bit of hard drive space as well: 8GB worth, in fact. Xbox 360 owners are also being asked to install the game
id's Tim Willits explained to Eurogamer exactly why Rage is so large of a game--at least, in terms of file size. "It's because of the texture data, but it is very unique. It has a very beautiful style to it, it runs real fast because the world, the visuals, are all virtualised." He emphasizes that the "mega-texture" technique utilized for the game is what allows it to "run at 60Hz."
The PS3 version squeezes onto a single Blu-ray disc, but will require 8GB of free space on the hard drive, making it one of the largest installs on the platform to date. Early console adopters are likely going to have to clear a lot of space on their PS3s and prepare a lot of sandwiches before attempting to jump in the game. In return, however, id promises that the install enables "all the textures to the highest level."
The Xbox 360 version will ship across three DVDs. And while an installation isn't mandatory, Willits recommends that "everyone buys a hard drive," and if need be, "buy them used on eBay."
"We recommend installing the game to the hard drive, but you don't need to install all three discs," Willits explained. "If you don't have the space available on your hard drive, don't stress. Install the first disc, the first chapter, the first half of the game, then when you're done, uninstall and install disc two."

Cox in Orange County has a stated cap of 200GB and they give you tools to track your usage. However their policy states they will not charge you extra or throttle your bandwidth. Only that if you constantly go over the cap they will call and work with you to see if they can get your usage down or sell you a package with a higher cap.
So far I've hit about 300GB/mo for most of the months over the past two years and they still haven't contacted me. -

Comcast, bay area. 250 GB cap, but we regularly run into 300 and 400 GB without an issue. It's because we're not in the top 2%.
Even so, it's bullshit to have a 250 GB cap three years after they officially instituted it and five years after they started soft enforcing it. CrashPlan, just for me last month, transferred 180 GB and my wife has another 500 GB or so she wants to upload.
If the GB doesn't go up with time, then it's not network management it's money management.

If you are an early adopter of the PS3 and have a small hard drive.. go and buy a replacement! There is little excuse as it is so easy and inexpensive to do so. That's the beauty of the PS3.. you can use pretty much any 2.5" sata drive... you can get a 320 GB drive for less than the price of a single game.
Of course if you need to get a drive for the xbox you'll have to pay more money for less space.. but at least those prices have come down a bit. -

on xbox, it could be even worse if you don't install it.
but on pc you have to install anyway so this won't be very noticeable, but it is still there.
For Rage data streaming, PC HD full install > 360 HD full install > PS3 partial install > 360 HD cache > 360 DVD

did you play the game on ps3? or xbox? i don't have any doubt on xbox version. they've been demonstrating the game on xbox since last year, so the game should run great on it. but they didn't show ps3 version to public until very recently, and i have seen the videos of ps3 version which has texture streaming issues.

i said it could be even worse 'if you don't install.' And that's what John Carmack said.
Again,
