Forza 4 $30 DLC Season Pass announced
The DLC season pass is rapidly becoming a fixture of AAA, with Forza 4 getting in on the fun too. A $30 pass will get you six DLC packs with ten new cars apiece, and another pack thrown in as a bonus.
The downloadable content season pass is growing popular amongst AAA games, and Forza Motorsport 4 is the latest fueling the model. Microsoft today announced a $30 Season Pass covering six DLC car packs for Turn 10's racer, said to be 30% cheaper than buying them all individually.
The Season Pass's six packs will add 60 new cars to your Forza 4 over several months, but you also get another ten on top of those. As a bonus, the Pass gives you the 'American Muscle' car pack too, which is otherwise included in the Limited Edition and will be sold separately at launch.
The DLC Season Pass will go on sale when Forza 4 launches exclusively for Xbox 360 on October 11, then its six packs will be released between November 2011 and April 2012.
The Season Pass DLC bundle model is also being used for games including Gears of War 3, Mortal Kombat, L.A. Noire, WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011, and Saints Row: The Third, giving new DLC to Pass holders as it's released. EA Sports has a similar idea with its Season Ticket, which offers a 20% discount on DLC for all its games rather than giving a fixed amount for 'free.'
Today's announcement also brought confirmation that the Forza 4 demo will be released for Xbox Live Gold members on October 3, then will become available to Silver peons on October 7.
Here's a new look at those bonus American Muscle cars:

Great, now I have to start considering the amount of potential DLC for a game BEFORE I buy it. "Hmm, so, do I spend $90 of Forza, or $100 on CoD, etc, etc". How about just give me the game already and stop making me pay extra for stuff you should be "supporting" your community with for free. The only thing I want to buy a season pass to is a ski mountain.

As in your whining is absurd since not having the dlc won't prevent you from playing with other Forza 4 owners.

To be completely fair - the games tossing these season passes are either ones we know they will get a shitload of DLC (MW3, Forza4, Gears3, etc.) , or from an entity that is known to push out a lot of DLC with their games despite being a new property (Rockstar with LA Noire). You also have a generally good idea of exactly what the DLC will be - new maps for MW3, new tracks and cars for Forza, etc.
There's a "risk" in how much DLC will be there, but it is a very low risk because of these known entities.
Compare to, say, if Dead Island were to have a $30 season pass, with an unknown quantity being how much DLC there is to offer.
