Nintendo 3DS 'Flame Red' model lights up September
The Nintendo 3DS will be available in a hot new Flame Red colour scheme from September 9 at the sizzling new price of $169.99.
If an $80 price cut isn't enough to tempt you into buying a Nintendo 3DS, how about a sassy new colour? The handheld will be available in scorching 'Flame Red' in North America from September 9, Nintendo announced today, joining Cosmo Black and Aqua Blue in the elemental lineup.
As the 3DS price cut goes into effect on August 12, the Flame Red model won't burn your fingers, launching at the new price of $169.99. If you fancy picking up a hot game alongside the searing new 3DS, Nintendo points out that it roars into stores on the same day as Star Fox 64 3D.
As I have ably demonstrated, it's all too tempting to break out the fire puns with such a story, and Nintendo's press release couldn't resist either. Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime had a good go, saying, "Nintendo 3DS is poised to be on fire for the holidays, with its new suggested retail price, great games and our new Flame Red color."
Retailer Target was a little more reserved, joining in but only offering a lukewarm pun. "The new, lower Nintendo 3DS price combined with a hot new color and big-name games will entice even more Target guests to get their hands on this first-of-its-kind 3D gaming experience," vice president of merchandising Nik Nayar said.
Puns, people. They're what makes the video games media go round.
