He mentioned some interesting details about the way in which the story is presented. It sounds like they're trying to keep the game flowing while elements of the story play out. Seems like a good idea to me. What if you're a newcomer to the game and you care about the story, but you're playing through it with your twitchy and impatient friend? He's not going to want to wait around for minutes at a time while you read through lore dialog. My friends kind of killed Diablo 2 for me because by the time I tried playing it with them, they had already been through the game 1000 times and were only still playing it for the loot grind. Following them around, I never got any opportunities to take in the atmosphere, learn the story, experiment with different loot setups, of figure anything out for myself. It was just run there, kill that, collect shinies...pretty boring. Hopefully Diablo 3 manages to keep things rolling along without allowing the experience to become a soulless loot treadmill.
