Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 adds 12 new fighters

Capcom, masters of re-releasing games, have announced a new version of Marvel vs. Capcom just in time for San Diego Comic-Con. Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is in development for PS3 and Xbox 360 and will be available this November for $39.99--the same price it placed on its last remixed fighter, Super Street Fighter IV.

New to Ultimate MvC3 will be twelve new characters, including Strider, Ghost 'n Goblins villain Firebrand, Ghost Rider, and Hawkeye. "More characters will be revealed in the coming months," Capcom promises. In addition to the new characters, there will be eight new stages and new features "to improve the game's balance and online functionality," such as the new Spectator Mode.

      Is this going to be a case like SSF4 Arcade Edition, where owners of the original game can download this as an add-on? I'd hate to think the original MvC3 is already obsolete, because it hasn't even been six months since that game released.

      Did not buy Street Fighter 4 -> bought Super Street Fighter 4 = Win.
      Did not buy MvC3 -> will buy Ultimate MvC3 = Win.

      DO NOT BUY CAPCOM GAMES WHEN THEY ARE FIRST RELEASED.

        Yea this seems like a relatively safe course of action. You do of course get kind of hosed when you first play and everyone else already has 6 months of practice before you though.

        To be fair, Capcom has never released various crazy iterations of the versus games like they have with the Street Fighter series. This is the first time they've started fucking people by releasing too many Bull Shit iterations of their versus games.

          I love this series and hoped for a new mvc. Bought it day one, for that i am being punished by capcoms decision to release this only on disc and not as cheaper dlc. Honestly this series is my only link to capcom and that has now been severed. I will not be milked into buying a game i already have. Also if this is the example they want to set i will not buy any of their properties again. Grats to those smarter then i who waited til this version hit the market place.

      If they sold 12 characters + new features separately it'd cost a lot more.

      TBH this is actually decent, it's like buying an expansion pack.
