Civilization World public beta launches
Civilization madness spreads to Facebook as the long-in-development Civilization World has launched its public beta on the popular social media website.
The long-awaited, web-based version of the critically and commercially successful Civilization franchise is now available in a public beta beginning today. Sid Meier's Civilization World takes the franchise to the 'free to play' realm on the growing platform of Facebook social gaming.
The social version of the Civilization strategy franchise was first announced in 2009 under the name Civilization Network, before being renamed Civilization World in early 2011.
The game borrows various elements from other games in the Civilization franchise, including a cartoonish graphic style reminiscent of 2008's console title Civilization Revolution. According to legendary game designer Sid Meier, Civilization World will offer "everything you enjoy in Civ in a fully persistent environment - you can play as much as you like, whenever you like, and it’ll be free to play."
A free to play, never-ending stream of Civilization? This does not bode well for our productivity at work. Visit the Civ World Facebook page for more details.

CivWorld is actually pretty good about that. The only time it asks you if you want to post stuff to your wall is when you unlock an achievement. You don't have to do any spamming to "recruit players" or anything to get more "turns" like I understand Zynga games do. I wouldn't worry about making another account for it.
