Cthulhu Saves the World and Breath of Death VII Steam bundle coming July 13

Zeboyd games announces a Steam bundle including enhanced versions of their retro RPGs Breath of Death VII: The Beginning and Cthulhu Saves the World.

If you've poked around the Xbox Live Indie Games channel, you may already be aware of the two charmingly retro comedy RPGs by Zeboyd games--Breath of Death VII: The Beginning and Cthulhu Saves the World. Both games offer a ton of bang for the proverbial buck--priced at $1 and $3, respectively on XBLIG. Zeboyd Games has just announced that enhanced versions of both games are being bundled together for an even more ridiculously low price of $3 on Steam.

How the Steam bundle came about involves another cool story of fan-supported indie development. Zeboyd started a funding page on Kickstarter, specifically to raise money to bring an updated port of Cthulhu Saves the World to PC, and update the XBLIG version. In February, Zeboyd surpassed its $3000 funding goal, and managed to rake in $6,898 from 164 pledges by the fundraising's end.

Due to the overwhelming response from fans (and the more than double the requested funds), Zeboyd decided to add their earlier RPG, Breath of Death VII: The Beginning, to the mix. The PC version of Breath of Death will include a new "easy" mode, new customization options, and save-anywhere functionality.

The improvements to the PC version of Cthulhu Saves the World are much more significant. First off, the Steam version gets an humorously unwieldy title--Cthulhu Saves the World: Super Hyper Enhanced Championship Edition Alpha Diamond DX Plus Alpha FES HD - Premium Enhanced Game of the Year Collector's Edition (without Avatars!). Yes, seriously.

The Cthulhu update includes director's commentary, unlockable character "bromides," "Insanity" difficulty, a "super-hard" bonus dungeon, and re-balanced gameplay. Most notable among the enhancements is a gameplay mode that Zeboyd always wanted to included in the initial release: Cthulhu's Angels.

In this mode, Cthulu is too lazy to be a hero himself so he talks a group of talented women into doing his heroic deeds for him. New dialogue, new monsters, new songs, a new playable character, and a new dungeon are some of the additions this mode will contain.

The Breath of Death VII and Call of Cthulhu Saves the World bundle will be available on Steam on July 13. Best of all, the extras included in the Steam versions will be reflected in free updates for the XBLIG versions.

I read that as "Breath of the Dying" and had bad Diablo 2 flashbacks.

I really enjoyed Breath of Death. Nice little RPG that you can go through in 5-6 hours maybe a little more. Enjoyable fight mechanics and overall doesn't take itself too seriously.

Cthulhu Saves the World is a good game beside being funny. They have this great mechanic where after you kill a certain number of enemies in an area battles become optional. I wish Final Fantasy games would do this.
