Free Zelda: Ocarina of Time soundtrack offer now online

Registrations are now open for your free copy of the Ocarina of Time soundtrack CD, free as a limited-run bonus for registering your copy of the 3DS game.

Though it was announced during Nintendo's recent E3 press briefing, the company has now shared details on the free soundtrack CD available for registering The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D. The CD includes 50 tracks, "many never before released," plus a fully orchestrated medley. Liner notes include character illustrations and a message from Shigeru Miyamoto and Koji Kondo.

If you've have a copy in-hand, you can start the process now. Register your copy of the game through Club Nintendo, and you'll be given a prompt to accept the CD offer. Shipping is free, and should arrive within 2-4 weeks. Plus, you have to be a resident of the US or Canada, over the age of 13.

Nintendo has referred to this as a limited edition soundtrack, but hasn't specified just how limited it is. Chances are there will be enough to last for fans eager enough to pick up the game on day one, but you might not want to risk it. Better safe than sorry.

Just as a heads up, this whole thing is currently not working for almost everyone. The prompt simply doesn't come up. Nintendo is supposedly working on the problem and calling in apparently gets an order placed if you want to wait on hold.

Exactly. I had to call Nintendo for them to get my shipping info and Club Nintendo account info in order to get the ball rolling. It took me a good 10 minutes of constantly redialing to get into the system but the CS agent was able to take care of things quickly.

I was never prompted in Chrome to accept the offer so I tried to call this morning. While on hold I noticed they have updated the site to say anyone who registers the game by midnight tonight and completes the first survey will get the CD.

Terrible album art, I don't understand how terrible box art for anything is so common. If I can tell it's terrible, why can't they.

Damn, I'm not planning on getting a 3DS for a while, yet, but I might have to buy OoT 3D now so I can get in on this.

maybe im just weird, but ive never felt compelled to have the soundtrack for a game. the only exception would be some of the music from the earlier tony hawk games. but then those are actual songs, not original music specifically made for a video game. i dunno, theres just nothing appealing about bumping zelda music while driving down the street.

a lot of game soundtracks I get I use for sleeping purposes. most notably the mass effect soundtrack and most of the jazz compositions from Telltale's Sam & Max games.

Part of me wishes they re-did the music for the 3DS version, but the other part of me dislikes some of those versions of the songs and is glad they decided to leave good-enough alone.

I don't know, they pretty much redid all of the graphics, it seems like putting in a new orchestral rendition of the tracks would have made sense too.
